It's due by Jan 29th, and winners will play at Carnegie Hall. No way I'll have time to do this (the cello part is not that hard), but its a nice idea for getting youngins involved with classical.
I do find it suspicious/disingenuous maybe even slightly hypocritical* that the first frame displayed in the video is not that of Tan Dun (who actually starts the video) but an unknown (at least to me) frilly haired 20 something man wielding an electric violin. I don't know him, and so can't have anything against him. Its just that, could it be someone, perhaps a lot of someones thought that this man was the image of who they want to participate / attract to their event. It's not that this is anything new, hence the field of human endeavor called marketing. However, rather than electing role models and stereotypes, why not just let it start with the composer of the music.
- Thank goodness typing is so easy, how else could I publish the insignificant.
